In League
Sometimes the gears get stuck, I guess, and the thoughts run to goo. Happened to me, dee-del-dee-dee. Tonight.

Still, things happen. I tracked down an outfit called Rental Solutions here locally that finds rental units based on a list of criteria you provide, how many bedrooms, location, parking and other things like that. Their fee is a good sized chunk of the first month's rent, which is OK, I guess, but the interesting part is the fact they charge an additional 10% (of the first month's rent) if you own a cat. You don't want to know what they charge if you own a dog. Or two cats. The suggestion on their web site was you consider getting rid of your pets. I'm not sure what kind of people suggest you, um, get rid of your cats.

I can only repeat two quotes I found on a site recommended to me recently in a reader's email:

"I got rid of my husband. The cat was allergic."

"My husband said it was him or the cat ... I miss him sometimes."

Both of these make sense, but not, I suspect, to this agent. Am I missing something? Should I be looking elsewhere for rental finder talent?

One reason I'm using these people is they were recommended by a friend USMS National Short Course Championships who's sister had worked in their office and said they could deliver places that never saw a newspaper or ever had a sign out front and I need that kind of help. They check your credit history and talk to your former landlords and talk to your personal references and talk to your employer and talk to your mother and talk to your dealer so when they deliver a prospective tenant to a landlord the landlord falls down on the floor and kisses their feet. In anticipation. Of endless rental checks delivered on schedule at the end of each month. This is what her sister said. They were worth every penny and I wouldn't have to worry or conduct much of a search. And I like that. Except for the cats. Why would they recommend you get rid of your cats? Unless they were, well, in league.

The photographs were taken in Santa Clara on Saturday at the 1999 USMS National Short Course Championships. I should have lightened up on the green on the father and daughter.
